Hello again,
My morning weight this morning is 175.0. I have to admit, I am disappointed. This diet is very restrictive, and staying on track can be hard. It would be so much easier if the pay offs were there week after week. I read other Dr Poon blogs, and it seems as though everyone else is having amazing results most weeks. I am grateful to be losing weight. And as I mentioned before, my brain knows this is a lifestyle change and that over the long term I will be come healthier, and thinner.
I had my 3rd follow up visit yesterday. In the morning before leaving my weight on my scale was 175.2.
My results so far:
June 6 June 26 July 17 July 31
Weight 188 178 175.6 173.4
BMI 32.4 30.6 30.1 29.8
Fat% 40.1 37.6 38.6 38.5
Fat Mass 75.6 67.0 67.8 66.8
TBW 82.5 81.5 79.0 78.0
I have lost 2.2 lbs since my last visit. 1 lb of body fat and 1 lb of body water.
In total (according to my scale) I have lost 15 lbs to date.
I NEED to add some exercise to my routine. I have said it before, but I really need to put it into action and get my butt moving.
I so badly want to see the scale drop into the 160s. I feel like I am so close. But I need to try even harder if I want to get there sooner rather than later. Are there any other Dr Poon dieters out there who have also had such SLOW results?
Even the Dr said yesterday that I wasn't losing much, but he didn't offer any suggestions or explanation. I guess so long as you are losing is all that really matters.
This has been kind of a negative post. Let me try to turn the tables here for a moment. There are positives... first off, I am down 15 lbs! Most of my capris and shorts are hanging off of me and can even be pulled off without unbuttoning! My face is also looking thinner. The change in diet has certainly changed my PMS symptoms. My period is due in 2 days and I am NOT experiencing the moderate breast tenderness that I used to experience. This is the 3rd cycle since beginning this diet and it has totally alleviated that discomfort.
My husband, who has been a great cheerleader, has not been a great help. Allow me to explain. He has done a great job of complimenting me. He tells me how proud he is of me and does not complain when I spend ridiculous amounts of money on 'food I can eat'. However, he has been a real pain in my butt when it comes to eating junk food in front of me. For the most part, I don't have cravings for junk food; and I know this is 'Jana's Journey' not his....but c'mon! LOL One morning this week, I woke up to the smell of fresh baked banana bread lofting throughout my whole house. Literally, it woke me up. He decided to bake a loaf in the bread maker. As if that were not enough, throughout the day every time I looked over at him he was eating a slice slathered in butter. He ate 3/4 of the loaf in one day! This is just an example, there is the nightly bowl of ice cream, the freezer full of Costco muffins, and the fact that on weekends when we are out yardsaling or whatever we might be doing, he always turns to me and says "I'm gonna grab a _______, you have stuff you can eat at home right?" Fill the blank in with slice of pizza, sub, hamburger and fries etc etc.
For the most part I've been sucking it all up. But this week for some reason it has been a lot harder than the past weeks. I sent my husband a text which read "I want pizza, poutine, a hamburger, salt and vinegar chips and CAKE! =(. He responded with "I'm so proud of you, you look amazing!"
So the next day when I explained to him how difficult it has been this past week and how hard it has been to watch him have all those treats. He told me that after this weekend he would cut out junk food for 1 month until our anniversary (September 1st). I'm so excited! It is going to be soo great to have a partner. It will also give him an appreciation of what I am experiencing.
On that note, do you remember during week one when I wrote about mentioning this diet to my brother? Well through his own efforts of reducing sugar in his diet and watching what he is eating, he has lost 20 lbs! I'm very proud of him.
Okay folks, sorry for the LOOONG blog. We will see you in a week, hopefully with AMAZING results!
Stay healthy!
