Dr Poon Diet Week 10 And 4th Follow up Visit

Hello!
I'm so happy right now I could dance!  My weight this morning on my scale is 171.8!  I'm inching my way closer to the 160s!!  I'm so excited.  I've lost 19 lbs!  My BMI is no longer in the 'obese' range.  I'm officially overweight.  Who knew that I would be excited to 'overweight'!
I've also had my biweekly Dr Poon Office visit yesterday.  I've been placed on phase 2.  I realized that I had been cheating quite a bit on phase one.  I had been eating a lot of phase 2 items thinking, well they're low carb, they must be allowed.  items such as mayonnaise.  I would make an egg salad with a touch of mayo and eat it on cucumber slices.  They were delicious, but I wasn't supposed to be having such items, which might explain why my results have been slower, like phase 2 results.  Now that I am officially on phase 2, I am excited.  As the pamphlet suggests, I intend to begin each day on phase one and eat the occasional phase 2 item as the cravings for these items strike.  Yesterday I savoured a small dish of fresh strawberries for dessert.  I thought I died and went to heaven!
If you're reading this blog in preparation for beginning the Dr poon diet, and your wondering whether the program works... it does.  It's not always easy and it requires a level of commitment that you may not have ever given a diet in the past, but it does work and it is worth the effort.  It has taken me 10 weeks to lose 19 lbs.  I realize now that I have made some mistakes along the way.  The weight loss, whether it be a pound a week or more or less has been worth every effort.  I feel so much better.  My self-esteem seems to rise with every lost pound.
I've been riding my stationary bike more often as well.  If my knees agree, I think I might tackle the 30 day squat challenge that I have seen posted on Pinterest and Facebook.  Of the 19 lbs I've lost, the majority of it seems to have come off my bum!  My pants are hanging off of me in the most unflattering way!  I've got to see if I can build up my gluteal muscles!  I mentioned in a previous post that I have an 'apple' body type.  I carry the majority of my excess weight in my belly and breasts.  I've noticed some minor losses in these areas.  My waist seems to be much more pronounced.
I can't wait to lose my belly!  The best part is, I KNOW I will!  It'll take time, but now that I have embraced a new way of eating, I know I am only going to get better!
I'm doing this for a number of reasons, but my main motivation is to have a fit body for my fertility treatments down the road.  It was after all, my fertility specialist who started me on this weight loss journey.  I know when I go back to see her in October she is going to be quite impressed with my results.

My results so far:

                June 6               June 26        July 17       July 31     August 14
Weight     188                     178              175.6        173.4        171.5
BMI         32.4                     30.6             30.1          29.8          29.4
Fat%        40.1                     37.6             38.6          38.5          37.4
Fat Mass  75.6                     67.0             67.8          66.8          64.0
TBW        82.5                     81.5             79.0          78.0          78.5

I was retaining water at yesterdays weigh in.  I had lost nearly 3 lbs of fat but was up .5lbs of total body water.  I think I have since then flushed some of that excess water out because my home scale which usually weighs me a couple pounds heavier than the office scale, weighed me at 171.8 this morning!  Quite a drop from yesterday morning.
Sooo happy!!
Thanks for taking the journey with me!  Here's to another week!
Jana
