Hola!
It's Sunday night.  I'm lying in bed.  My husband returns to work tonight, bringing our holidays to an end.  We have had a wonderful 2 weeks of vacation together.  As I mentioned, our second week of holidays were spent honeymooning in Cuba!  I will admit up front that I FAILED to stay on track while on vacation.  I was certain upon leaving that I would not cheat.  I cheated.  A LOT.  Having said that, I did eat and drink much more mindfully than I would have had I not been on the Dr Poon diet.
On other vacations with my husband, I would typically have a (virgin) Pina Coloda in my hand ALL day.  On this vacation I had 1-2 per day.  I also had a glass of red wine with most of my dinners.  Other cheats included a hand full of dinner rolls with butter.
I did manage to avoid all starchy side dishes such as potatoes, rice and pasta.  However, dessert was another story...
When all is said and done I gained a total of 4 lbs while on vacation.  We returned home Friday morning.  I immediately recommitted to my weight loss goals and Dr. Poon's diet and I am pleased to say that this morning (Sunday) I weighed in at 179.8 which is where I was, more or less, before we left.
I do wish that I had had the will power to not cheat on vacation.  I tried very hard to set myself up for success by taking calorie free and low carb drink mixes with me.  I know that they helped to reduce the amount of 'regular' drinks I would have otherwise had.
I'm trying to think what I would do differently if I were to go on vacation again.  I would still take the drink mixes with me.  I would try to exercise more there.  We did take walks, but they were more like 'strolls'  because of the heat.  I packed Walden Farms salad dressing, and EZ Gourmet low carb cookies.  Again, they probably reduced the number of bad choices I made, but unfortunately they did not prevent me from eating things I shouldn't.
So anyways, vacation was wonderful.  Yes, I cheated.  But it isn't the end of the world.  I am back on track and recommitted.  I'm also very proud of myself for losing what I gained while I was away.
Hopefully this week will be very successful!
