Just starting Out- New to Blogging and New to Dr Poon all at once

Hello All!
I've never blogged before.  I'm not likely to be witty or wise, or full of amusing anecdotes.  The purpose of this blog is for me to document my journey on the Dr. Poon Metabolic Diet as well as to invite you all in, to give feedback, support to one another and whatever else may come of it.

Today is day 5 of the Dr Poon diet.  I have already dropped 6 lbs.  It is so motivating to see the weight coming off so quickly!

My journey began at the Rouge Valley Fertility Centre.  My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years.  Dr Williams referred me to Dr Poon.  I was not sure what to expect from my meeting with Dr Poon.  I had no idea what I was getting into.  I thought the appointment was perhaps a one time nutritional counseling seminar.  Boy was I wrong!

Dr Poon, is a very matter of fact, straight shooting, man with a no nonsense approach to weight loss.  He lays out his program in a few short pages of a simple photo copied hand out, given at the first appointment.
Although, he is matter of fact in his nature, I found him to be warm and somewhat charismatic.  He took the time to explain to me, that being overweight can cause infertility by creating a hormone imbalance, too much testosterone (in women), which in turn affects the reproductive organ's ability to function properly.

My starting weight according to Dr Poon's scale is 188.6 and 40.1% body fat.
However according to my home scale, which is the tool I am using to track my success on a daily basis - my starting weight was 190.2

Here we are on the morning of day 5 184.8!
I wish I could just fast forward to the end of the month to see where I will be.  I'm going to have to be patient.

So far, I'm finding the program to be easy.  I was worried I would be white-knuckling my way through each meal.  However, I have not missed the carbs at all!  I am however eating Jell-O Lite like it is going out of style.  That stuff is a life saver on this plan.
I'm also convinced that the key to my success moving forward is having food already prepared and ready to eat in the fridge.  At the moment I have a handful of cooked shrimp thawed and ready to eat, a piece of cooked salmon, left over chicken, salad washed and ready to go and of course Jell-O!  It helps knowing  that I can grab something quickly without a lot of prep-work.

Here's to another day of staying the course and becoming a healthier me.  Good luck all!
Jana
