Hey all!
I just returned from my first follow-up appointment at the Dr. Poon clinic. It wasn't really much of an appointment. They weighed me, gave me a print out of my results and I briefly sat down with a doctor. He said I was doing well and to continue on phase one. Do I have any questions? No, I replied. And that was it.
So anyways, here is the break down of my progress so far:
June 6th 2013 June 26th 2013
Weight: 188.6 178.0
BMI: 32.4 30.6
Fat %: 40.1% 37.6
Fat mass: 75.6 lbs 67.0
FFM: 113 111
TBW: 82.8 lbs 81.5
So, overall I am very pleased with my results. I still have a long ways to go, and the weight loss has been slow the past 2 weeks, but I am determined and motivated.
I'm not an expert on weight loss, but I do know that stress hormones can have an adverse effect on one's efforts. This past week has been especially stressful for me. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was accepted into Dr. Poon's program because of issues surrounding infertility. Well, without going into too much detail, we were given a blow this past week which has me feeling rather broken hearted. I'm trying to pick myself up, dust myself off and put my focus on my weight loss journey rather than on getting pregnant for the time being.
On another note, I checked out the Low Carb Grocery as well as the low carb store at Dr. Poon's office. I have read several complaints about the prices of cookies etc, and while true, the prices in many cases are double what one might pay for regular cookies in a regular store- I have found that the EZ Gourmet cookies allowed as an occasional snack on Dr. Poon's plan are FANTASTIC!! I consider them to be even better than the real thing. And because I am the only one in my family eating them, they last a lot longer! In my opinion they are worth every penny. I have allowed myself only 1 per day when I could really use a treat.
The next 2 weeks are going to be challenging. My husband is starting vacation, which means more meals together, and more meals on the go. We are also considering a last minute all-inclusive vacation south for the second week. But I am determined to stay the course!
