Hello!
What a great week! I have been doing Dr Poon's diet for one full week now and the results are amazing! I'm so happy, so excited and most importantly so motivated to keep going!
My starting weight (on my scale) was 190.2 lbs
Today's weigh in 182.6
Total loss this week of -7.6 lbs!
When I go for my 2 week follow-up appointment at Dr Poon's Pickering office I will be given a break down of how much of my loss is body fat and how much is water.
Dr. Poon mentioned that I have a lot of water to lose. I certainly feel as though I am retaining less. I apologize if this is a little TMI but I typically experience moderate breast tenderness leading up to my period as result of all the excess fluid. But this week my period completely caught me by surprise because I did not experience this symptom at all!! What a relief!
I'm sure this diet would not be for everyone. I am finding it easy. I have not experienced any cravings that could not be controlled by eating an approved food off the list. When I have needed something sweet, or fast, Jell-O lite has come to my rescue.
My mom told me that my brother had thrown his back out. So my husband and I drove to his place to check on him. Back pain runs in my family. We all suffer from it from time to time. In my case it certainly makes a difference how much weight I am carrying. I have one of those 'as seen on TV' Back2Life machines which help to relax your back muscles and relieve back pain. So I took it over for my brother to use. He seemed skeptical. My brother, who has always been slim has gained quite a bit of weight in the past 6 months or so since quitting smoking. He also mentioned that he thought his bad back was a result of his weight. I mentioned I had lost 7 lbs in just a week by simply cutting out sugar in all its forms. He was blown away! He simply could not believe I had lost so much so fast. He said he too was going to be more mindful of his sugar intake. I certainly hope it helps. I hate to see anyone in pain. especially when I've been there and know exactly how it feels.
I have an apple body type. I don't carry lot of weight in my but, hips or thighs. Even at 190 lbs I could still wear pants sizes 7-10 depending on the fit. My weight is all in my belly and breasts. Its a killer on my back. Every morning as I get out of bed, I struggle to walk from my bedside to the wash room. My back is so tight that each step is challenge. Almost as though the signal from my brain has a delay getting to my legs to move. Its amazing how much back pain can impact the simplest things. It usually takes a couple hours of moving around before I'm back to normal. But even my normal is pretty weak. I've lost weight before and maintained my weight in the 160s for about 3 years, during that time my back pain was entirely alleviated.
So, while I am excited for the weight loss on an aesthetic level, I am also doing this for improving my odds of conceiving a baby and to have a body strong and fit enough to carry the weight of a pregnancy.
I'm excited with the results so far =)
